Gerrit Hoogenboom is the Director of AgWeatherNet and Professor of Agrometeorology. He has over 25 years of experience in agricultural research and he has specialized in the development of crop simulation models and decision support systems. Applications range from freeze forecasting to climate variability and climate change, water resources management, biofuels, sustainability, and food security. He currently coordinates the development of DSSAT, a modeling system that is being used world-wide by many scientists and others interested in  decision support. He frequently organizes and facilitates international training workshops on crop modeling and he hosts visiting scientists for information exchange. He has published more than 180 scientific papers in refereed journals as well as numerous book chapters and proceedings. He is an Editor for Agricultural Systems, the Journal of Agricultural Science, Climate Research, and the Brazilian Journal of Agrometeorology.
